Naya Haryana A Pledge for Good Governance

Naya Haryana A Pledge for Good Governance, naya haryana, नया हरियाणा

31st August 2014

Naya Haryana

The time has come for us to unfold our vision of Naya Haryana. The time has come for every citizen of Haryana to reclaim its lost values, to reclaim its lost virtues, to reclaim its lost morality, to reclaim its lost compassion, to reclaim its lost honour and to reclaim the nation's love, all of which has been severely diluted over the last 10 years under the Hooda administration.

When Haryana was created there was hope for a new dawn, a new aspiration, a new opportunity, and a new expectation but sadly over time, one has seen all the hopes fade away and the citizens left wondering what went wrong. The last 10 years have been particularly bad with scam after scam surfacing. The Hooda administration has been mired in repeated controversy and expose  for rampant corruption in various arms of the government.

The last 10 years has seen rapid urbanisation, especially in the Gurgaon-Manesar-Faridabad region, but at a cost to the environment and agriculture. Large tracts of agricultural land were converted to commercial use, for profit, without consideration about the future.

Today, one sees massive colonies that have come up but there is very little by way of supporting infrastructure for those colonies. There is very little electricity supply, clean drinking water is a major problem, roads are in poor condition, very little greenery or parks are around, and where parks are available, they are very poorly maintained with all sorts of undesirable elements frequenting them.

Haryana was known to be one of the safest places in India, as its people were simple and honest folk and not given to either greed or lust. However, the last 10 years has seen rapid erosion in human values that Haryana was known for. The last decade has seen a lot of wealth that has been created by selling land. This has brought prosperity to a few but has also brought with it all social evils that is now affecting the youth in most parts of Haryana, as they too want a quick access to a fast life that they see in their so-called newly rich friends.

In places like Gurgaon and Chandigarh, vulgar display of newly gotten wealth is the new norm and each one is out to outdo the other. Be it a new super luxury car, or a wedding in the family, crores are being splurged in a community that was always known for its austerity and simplicity. This new uneven distribution of wealth amongst a few is causing a lot of resentment amongst those that are still struggling to find a simple job.

The Hooda administration has made tall claims of development but makes no mention of the officials that have created illegal wealth in the process. Honest officials like Ashok Khemka have been hounded out of office just because he exposed massive corruption that involved Robert Vadra, Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law, who has created a lot of wealth in a very short time, despite having neither a job nor any established business.

Ashok Khemka has highlighted several other cases of misuse within the government but has been viciously hounded by the Hooda administration. It is indeed sad that this government has allowed corruption to grow at all levels and crony capitalism has increased under this government. Those close to the present administration have profited immensely due to their closeness to the party high command, both at the centre and at the state.

Corruption is one thing but the Hooda administration is guilty of failing its people's expectation for good governance. They waited with hope for 10 years. They were willing to give the Chief Minister another chance on good faith and expectation that the state will implement its promises. But what the people see today is a Haryana that has made only partial development in some pockets while there has been no development in most areas.

The people still do not have electricity connection at home and those that do barely get electricity for a few hours in a day. The poor and backward classes have had no relief from this government by way of cheap and affordable housing and they continue to live in terrible conditions.

Visit any town or village in Haryana and you will see bad roads with pot holes and very little maintenance. Public transport is limited to major towns only while the people have to struggle through limited and very poor transport option available through private initiative like autos, tempos, etc. Very little investment has been made to develop roads in the interiors parts of Haryana.

Very few towns and villages have a functioning sewage system and people have to live with overflowing filth on the streets. This only adds to the problems people have to face on a day-to-day basis. The street lighting is a mess across Haryana. The roads either do not have street lighting and where available, they are mostly malfunctioning.

The last 10 years has seen very little improvement in state health care facilities. Either there are no facilities available or where there are public health centres, they are badly maintained with very little functioning equipment. There is a severe shortage of qualified doctors and people have to turn to expensive private medical care in larger towns.

The people are now frustrated with the Hooda government that has over promised and underserved these people who placed their faith in his party. The last 10 years can be seen as a missed opportunity when the state could have been transformed into a truly developed state, given that its own party was at the centre.

India too suffered the same way with the Congress led UPA rule at the centre and the people rightly displayed their anger and frustration by removing the Congress led UPA, in the recent Lok Sabha elections. By giving BJP a massive and unprecedented majority, the people have reposed their faith in the Shri Narendra Modi led government. There is renewed hope and excitement for a new India.

The state of Haryana has seen the tremendous effort made at the grassroot level, by the state unit of the BJP, led by Captain Abhimanyu. In an effort to connect with the people in the state, Captain Abhimanyu has met all sections of society and at all levels, to understand the problems and issues of the people. Men, women and youth from all parts of Haryana have come forward and expressed their views and expectations from the BJP and have participated in giving shape to the vision of Naya Haryana, which has been an initiative of Captain Abhimanyu.

Naya Haryana is about people's aspiration for a better life for themselves and their children and it is our responsibility to make it happen. The Naya Haryana vision has evolved over time and is based on inputs from the people living in all parts of Haryana. It's a vision that is by the people, of the people and for the people.

Good governance is your right and we are committed to representing you and serving you in making a Naya Haryana that will be a clean, vibrant and prosperous Haryana for everybody.

It's time to exercise your right. It's time for change.
