With proximity to Delhi, Haryana gains a benefit in being a business hub. The state, which is trying to improve and increase its industrial sector, can climb the ladder of success easily. The abundant skilled manpower can contribute to the development of the state.
As per a recent study conducted by ASSOCHAM and Frost & Sullivan, Haryana has the chances to become a leading knowledge state in the country in future. It states that if the state promotes centers of industrial development and excellence in different sectors such as agriculture, electronics, healthcare etc., it can lead the country for being the biggest knowledge center. Haryana is home to numerous small, medium and large electronic units, which operate across electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) space and therefore, there is a need to improve and increase the avenues for investment in this sector. It has the potential to offer opportunities in the areas such as LED lighting, electronic components and medical electronics.
Delhi and Noida are hubs for chip designing and due to the proximity to these cities, Haryana can start the test mark and packaging (ATMP) facilities, which can be availed by the companies in the neighbouring states. To gain profit and development, the state should also initiate investments in the basic/advanced electronic testing and certification centers. This way the state can cater to and attract a large number of small and medium enterprises which deal in electronics in the National Capital Region (NCR).
There is a need to attract private sector investments in the healthcare sector in the state. The government of Haryana should increase the participation of private sector in the healthcare industry. The state has a location advantage and if medical segments can be strengthened, investors will be attracted to establish more quality healthcare institutions. Similarly, with public-private partnership and an improvement in the education system, many quality higher education institutions can also be set up in the state. However, there are certain sectors such as food processing, footwear and accessories, tourism, petrochemicals etc., which have very less to contribute to the development of the state. These sectors also require immediate attention, as they can also make a substantial change in the economic development of the state. It is essential that the agriculturally rich state, Haryana should also provide opportunities to the farmers as agriculture forms the maximum share in the economy. Cold chains, pre-cooling facilities, improvement in the arrangements of the retail marketing can improve the agricultural standards.
The state has a lot of potential to become the leading knowledge center in the country. The need of the hour is the optimum utilisation of the available resources in the state, by taking necessary and appropriate steps in this regard. Naya Haryana seeks to watch the state as the most prominent and leading knowledge center and is sure that the dream of Naya Haryana will be achieved at the earliest and Haryana will emerge as the leading knowledge hub in India.
